Your measurements

1Height optional

Barefoot, back against a wall, from the top of the head to the floor. Used to calculate the ideal length of your caftan.

2Bust / chest

Around the fullest part of the chest, tape horizontal under the arms. Breathe normally — do not hold your breath.

3Waist

Around the narrowest part of the waist, usually just above the navel. This is where the belt (mdama) sits.

4Hips

Around the fullest part of the hips and seat, feet together. Often the measurement that decides the size of a caftan.

5Shoulder width optional

Across the back, from one shoulder point to the other. Ask someone to help you with this one.

6Arm length optional

From the shoulder point to the wrist bone, arm slightly bent. Caftan sleeves can be made longer or flared — tell us.

7Arm circumference optional

Around the widest part of the upper arm, arm relaxed. Important for fitted velvet sleeves.

8Total length optional

From the shoulder (next to the neck) to the floor, wearing the shoes you will wear. If you leave it empty, we estimate it from your height and heels.

How to measure well

Use a soft tailor’s tape, over light clothing or underwear.

Stand straight, feet together, and breathe normally.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and perfectly horizontal.

Ask someone to help you — it is the secret of a perfect fit.
