The 7 outfits of the Moroccan bride.
A Moroccan wedding celebration is a journey across the kingdom: the bride appears several times, each outfit honouring a region and its craft. There is no single official list — every family chooses its own — but here are the seven outfits our brides ask for most, and how to plan them.

Why the bride changes outfits
Each change of outfit — a lebsa — is a moment in the celebration. The bride is carried on the amaria, the guests discover a new outfit and new jewellery, and often a new region of Morocco. The negafa, the bridal stylist, orchestrates these changes with the bride and her family.
Depending on the family, the region and the length of the night, a bride wears between three and seven outfits, sometimes more.
The seven outfits, one by one
- 01
Lebsa Fassia
The most royal outfit, from Fez: a caftan of brocade — traditionally green and gold, today often red — with wide sleeves, a heavy belt and a crowned headdress with pearls and gold jewellery. It is often the highlight of the night.
- 02
White takchita
Ivory or white, light and luminous, often chosen for the nikah or for the bride's first entrance. It sets the tone: elegance and softness.
- 03
Lebsa Rbatia
From Rabat: a rich caftan of velvet or brocade embroidered in gold, worn with refined jewellery — a tribute to the elegance of the capital.
- 04
Lebsa Chamalia
The bridal outfit of the north, from Tetouan to Tangier: two layered caftans with a belt, a conical headdress built from silk scarves and jewellery, and cascades of pearls falling across the chest. Each northern city has its own variations.
- 05
Lebsa Sahraouia
From the Sahara: a draped melhfa in deep colours, with silver jewellery and hands decorated with henna — luminous and serene.
- 06
Lebsa Amazigh
A tribute to Amazigh culture, from the Souss and the Atlas: bright colours, silver fibulas and necklaces of coins and beads.
- 07
Lebsa Hindia
Inspired by India: a sari-like drape, rich embroidery and a jewelled headpiece. Loved for its colour and its festive spirit.
How to plan your outfits
- Choose the number of changes that suits the length of your night and your budget.
- Mix regions: your family's origin, your partner's, and the outfits you simply love.
- Book your fittings early, especially for a summer wedding.
- Plan the jewellery and headdress of each outfit — they transform the whole look.
- Keep a lighter, comfortable outfit for the end of the night.
Rent, buy or have it made
Many brides rent several outfits and buy one to keep — often the white takchita or a caftan. At Maison Samiha you can rent our bridal outfits with a fitting in Marrakech, buy them, or have one made to measure.
