What to wear to a Moroccan wedding as a guest.
You have been invited to a Moroccan wedding — in Morocco or abroad — and you wonder what to wear. Moroccan weddings are elegant, festive and long: here is how to dress the part while staying comfortable all night.

For women
- A caftan or a takchita is the most elegant choice, and it is always welcome.
- Choose rich fabrics and colours: velvet, brocade, embroidered chiffon.
- It is best to avoid an all-white outfit, usually worn by the bride.
- Add a belt and jewellery — they complete the look.
- Plan comfortable shoes: the celebration often lasts late into the night.
For men
- A jabador or a djellaba is perfect for a traditional wedding.
- A dark suit is also accepted at many weddings, especially abroad.
- Babouches complete a traditional outfit.
If you are not Moroccan
Wearing a caftan or a takchita as a guest is usually welcomed as a mark of respect and joy. If you are unsure, ask your hosts — and if you do not own one, renting is an easy solution.
Rent or buy for the occasion
If you are travelling to Marrakech for the wedding, you can rent a caftan or a takchita in our boutique, with a fitting when you arrive — or buy one to wear again. We can also make your piece to measure and ship it to you in Europe before the wedding.
Frequently asked questions
Can a non-Moroccan wear a caftan to a Moroccan wedding?
Yes. It is generally seen as a sign of respect and appreciation. If in doubt, ask your hosts.
Is a takchita too much for a guest?
Not at all — takchitas are very common among guests, especially close family. Simply choose colours that do not compete with the bride's white outfits.
What should a man wear to a Moroccan wedding?
A jabador or a djellaba for a traditional look, or a dark suit, which is accepted at many weddings.
Can I rent an outfit for a wedding in Marrakech?
Yes — most of our caftans and all our takchitas can be rented, with a fitting in our boutique.
